What people ask before they put a card in.
Do I need a card to start?
No. Kordio has a free sandbox in test mode with no card and no time limit. You only need a card when you want an agent to move real money, or live books.
What exactly is metered on the control layer?
Live authorized dollars a month, not a count of API calls or decisions. A denial is never billed, so routing everything through Kordio costs you nothing extra when the answer is no.
What is metered on the ledger?
Successfully written independent live postings. A balanced transaction with one debit and one credit uses two postings. Automatic Control postings, rejected writes and idempotent retries do not consume this allowance. Independent reversals are new postings.
Are features gated by tier?
No. Every policy kind, cosigning, approvals and the audit trail are in the free sandbox. Tiers buy volume, not capability.
Do I pay separately for the ledger?
No. The books are part of the control layer and every tier includes them, sandbox included. There is one ladder and one price.
What happens if I go over?
Spend and postings have separate allowances. Upgrade your workspace plan for more capacity. Authorized-spend packs are also available; they add spend capacity, not ledger postings. Exceeding a posting allowance does not interrupt an atomic ledger write.
